TAG Heuer Launches Monaco Gulf, Stopwatch and Titanium Watches
Over the past year, TAG Heuer has steadily increased its involvement in Formula 1, the top level of motorsport. Morgan Stanley's financial report shows that this strategy is clearly working, and TAG Heuer remains one of the most stable brands in the industry even in turbulent times. One of TAG Heuer's biggest investments in F1 this year is becoming the title sponsor of the Monaco Grand Prix, which will be held this weekend (May 24-25). As usual, TAG Heuer launched a series of new flagship Monaco chronographs during the event. There are three new products this year, let's take a look.
TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Gulf Kicking off the curtain is the new classic of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Gulf series. Ever since Steve McQueen wore a Monaco watch in the movie "Le Mans" in 1971 for the Gulf team, the Gulf series watch has been an iconic element in the watch and racing world. The design has since gone through several iterations, including the 2022 model that was introduced a few years ago.
The watch usually features a blue dial with the Gulf stripe on one side, but the 2025 model breaks with that tradition with a white dial. The white dial gives the watch the look of McQueen's racing suit, which is also white and has the Gulf stripe on one shoulder, a design that is also carried over on the dial of the Monaco Chronograph. Paired with black chronograph subdials, it looks like a panda with a colorful tattoo on its face.
The case design is inspired by the 1969 Monaco watch worn in the movie. This means it has a diameter of 39mm and the crown is at 9 o'clock, which fits the retro style. However, it uses modern materials and is made of grade 2 titanium. Inside the case is the Calibre 11 automatic chronograph movement with a 40-hour power reserve. The movement is based on the Sellita SW 300-1 a movement.
Model: TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph x Gulf Reference: CAW218G.EB0393 Case: 39 mm diameter x 15 mm thick, sandblasted grade 2 titanium, sapphire caseback, crown on the left Dial: Silver with blue and orange stripes, black opaline subdials, orange central chronograph hand, Gulf logo, vintage TAG Heuer logo Water resistance: 100 m (10 bar) Movement: TAG Heuer Calibre 11 automatic Frequency: 28,800 vph (4 Hz) Power reserve: 40 hours Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, date, chronograph Strap: White Fabric strap with orange stitching, plus a blue perforated calfskin strap.

TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph From a taxonomic point of view, it is redundant to call a watch a chronograph, as all chronographs are stopwatches – they all do exactly the same thing. However, the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph is exactly that, as its design is inspired by a historic Heuer stopwatch – a pocket watch-style watch that could be mounted on a car dashboard and used as a motorsports timer.
The new watch retains the core aesthetic elements of the classic watch and is presented in the Monaco’s iconic square design. This means that the central black disc is surrounded by a cream-colored border and decorated with red scales and chronograph seconds hand. Compared to the striped pattern of the Gulf series, this display is relatively simple, but still has a strong visual impact and looks great.
To complete the appearance, the 39mm titanium case is covered with black DLC coating. Otherwise, the mechanical structure of this watch is exactly the same as the Gulf series mentioned above, even equipped with Calibre 11 movement.
Model: TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Reference: CAW218F.FC6356 Case: 39 mm diameter x 15 mm thickness, black DLC grade 2 titanium, sandblasted, crown on the left, sapphire caseback Dial: black and silver opal, two black subdials, red minute scale, red chronograph hand, white vintage TAG Heuer logo Water resistance: 100 meters (10 bar) Movement: TAG Heuer Calibre 11 Frequency: 28,800 vibrations/hour (4 Hz) Power reserve: 40 hours Functions: hours, minutes, seconds, date, chronograph Strap: Black perforated calfskin strap with black DLC titanium folding clasp.
TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph TH-Titanium
In addition to the two vintage-style Monaco chronographs, TAG Heuer also launched a futuristic watch. It’s the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-second Chronograph TH-Titanium, based on a Haute Horlogerie split-second chronograph. This watch debuts a new titanium material, which TAG Heuer calls TH-Titanium, because what could be more creative than adding your own initials?
TH-Titanium is made by taking another titanium alloy and subjecting it to a series of very specific heat treatments. As a result, the atoms in the metal rearrange themselves, creating a different metallic structure. This in turn results in an irregular fractal texture on the surface of the material, somewhat similar to the organic shapes often seen in certain carbon composites, but with a more rigid geometry. But it’s still titanium. And like those carbon fiber watches, every TH-Titanium case is unique.
In terms of display, this new TH-Titanium case is paired with a brushed dial that’s structured and layered, with black subdials and yellow and white accents. As a split-second chronograph, it features two central chronograph hands that can be started and stopped simultaneously and independently. The movement is the TH81-00 calibre, with a power reserve of 65 hours when the chronograph is not running and 55 hours when the chronograph is activated. As with all previous Monaco split-seconds chronographs, this watch is available on request.
Model: TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph TH-Titanium Reference: CBW2185.FC8350 Case: 41 mm diameter x 15.2 mm thick, TH titanium sandblasted case, sapphire fixed bezel and caseback Dial: Sapphire crystal with white and yellow-green markings, black opaline counters, yellow-green lacquered split-seconds hand, checkered flag-shaped rotor Water resistance: 30 meters (3 bar) Movement: TAG Heuer TH81-00 automatic movement Frequency: 36,000 vibrations/hour (5 Hz) Power reserve: 65 hours Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph, split-seconds function Strap: Black calfskin strap with fabric embossing and yellow-green stitching, titanium buckle.
